International Rescue Committee Seeks Volunteer Interpreters
The International Rescue Committee, located on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, is looking for volunteers interested in serving a long term commitment as a Volunteer Interpreter.
Volunteer Interpreters facilitate and interpret at educational workshops and orientations for newly arrived refugees and asylees at the Suburban Washington Resettlement Center. From time to time volunteers are also asked to assist with one-on-one meetings between clients and caseworkers.
Volunteers will be required to pass a language ability and interpreter assessment test adminstered at the Center before beginning work.
The center is specifically looking for interpreters of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, Chin, Farsi, French, Lai, Nepali, Swahili, and Tigrinya.
