Public Invited to June 15 and 16 Woodshop Tool Sale at Riderwood

Looking for quality tools such as saws, hammers, planers, clamps, drills,  sanders, and levels? Then there is a good chance you will find them at the Riderwood retirement community resident-run Woodshop’s annual Tool Sale on June 15 and June 16. The sale will be held each day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Montgomery Station Terrace near the Woodshop on the Riderwood campus, 3140 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD.

The tools are in excellent condition, most recently having been part of a resident woodworking project in which kitchen cabinets were built to help Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity renovate a house in Silver Spring and allow a family to move from sub-standard housing into it two months ago. A dozen cabinets were made by scores of Riderwood residents who worked six days a week on this project.  Riderwood Friends of Habitat for Humanity participate in as many as three such 'builds' a year

The Riderwood resident-run woodshop has constructed 16 kitchens and 48 vanities for Montgomery County projects and two kitchens and 25-30 Adirondack chairs for homes in Washington, D.C.
