THINK OUTSIDE THE STORE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON: Wearable art studio encourages local residents to buy creative—or make their own gifts!

Silver Spring, MD—November 1, 2012; When it comes to giving gifts, it’s the thought that counts. That’s why Think Outside the Store, Silver Spring’s only wearable art studio, encourages local residents to look beyond the mass manufactured and marketed items available at most retail outlets when giving gifts this holiday season.

Handmade gifts are unique and personalized in a way that store-bought items just can’t achieve, which is why Think Outside the Store encourages residents to buy creative and support local artists when they do go shopping.

This holiday season, residents can buy creative on a budget with the Think Outside the Store Buy Creative discount card—the $5 card can be redeemed for $10 off a sewing class at Think Outside the Store and discounts from 10 local handcraft vendors: Affine Creations, Hooked and Loopy, Carly Noel Collection, Fearless Threads, Shel’s Studio, Handmade Habitat, Jacq’s Girls, Little Peeps Emporium, Oh You Like That! and Jamillah’s Jems. The card is available for sale at the studio and from some participating vendors at local craft shows. Many of these vendors can be found at Fenton Street Market’s holiday markets on November 25 and December 22, as well as other craft shows in the D.C. area.

Think Outside the Store will also be hosting its own Buy Creative Holiday pop up shop on December 15, 2012, from 10am-4pm—a one-day opportunity to buy creative at the studio. The event will feature bags from Fearless Threads, pottery from Shel’s Studio, jewelry and accessories from Jamillah’s Jems, dolls from Jacq’s Girls, and clothing art from Sarah Gingold of Think Outside the Store.

Local residents can also make their own gifts in Think Outside the Store workshops and personalized sewing sessions throughout November and December.
