8407 Kitchen Bar Hunting for New Top Chef

The executive chef was fired, Bethesda magazine reports.

If the lamb Bolognese at 8407 Kitchen Bar doesn't taste quite the same these days, it's because the restaurant has gotten rid of its executive chef, Bethesda magazine reports

Pedro Matamoros rose to prominance in the region while working for Tabard Inn in the District before owning Nicaro restaurant in Silver Spring. At 8407, his speciality was the lamb and a house-made charcuterie, the magazine reports.

Matamoros told Bethesda that he was fired earlier this month by the restaurant's owner Theo Margas, who said the chef was difficult to work with, according to Matamoros.

8407's menu will remain the same until a new top chef arrives.

Really hope this doesn't negatively affect the quality of 8407. Also really hope Pedro takes this opportunity to open up his own restaurant in Silver Spring. Nicaro and 8407 are very well regarded, locally, so he'd have an immediate following for any new Silver Spring restaurant.

To continue cooking his food and "pretending" Chef Matamoros is still at 8407 is a incredibly callous and disgraceful to the profession of being a chef. Shame on you, those remaining in charge at 8407. Pop up? We hope you pop down!
