Valentine’s Day came a few days early to downtown Silver Spring as ArtSpring celebrated local love with a chocolate and champagne tasting event.

Adults enjoyed champagne and chocolates from ArtSpring chocolatier Valerie Dulk-Jacobs, Silver Spring’s Velatis and Artisan Chocolates, while little cupids created hand-made valentines with artist Mary Mallia.

When asked about the event,  Aivars Starkis, ArtSpring's volunteer schlep (his official title) said "We wanted to feature local chocolatiers and Valentine's Day provided the perfect opportunity to showcase them."

In addition to the chocolates, Valentine’s Day-themed gifts were available throughout the store, including cards, plush hearts, jewelry and chocolate roses.
