Bethesda Police Station Deal Fizzles

BETHESDA — Developer JBG has backed out of a deal to build a new second district police station in Bethesda as part of a larger residential project on Cordell Avenue. JBG apparently will move forward with a modified residential project, albeit without the police station. Judi Dench, BBC Cause Traffic Jam in Potomac

POTOMAC — Potomac drivers experiencing the long traffic lines on River Road Thursday morning maybe have been mollified, or further annoyed, to learn that the traffic was because British actress Judi Dench was in town filming a BBC production. Read more on Potomac Patch.

Police: Suspect in Rockville Carjacking Also Wanted in Virginia Robbery

ROCKVILLE — Police believe a suspect wanted for a Sept. 27 carjacking in Rockville is the same person wanted for an Oct. 11 robbery in Alexandria, VA. Montgomery County police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect, seen in a surveillance video posted to YouTube by the Alexandria Police Department. Read more on Rockville Patch.

Pedestrian Hit by Car on Muddy Branch Road Dies

GAITHERSBURG — A Gaithersburg woman who was struck by a vehicle Monday night on Muddy Branch Road near Suffield Drive has died, police said. Read the full story on Gaithersburg Patch.

Wheaton Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Cocaine Conspiracy

WHEATON — A jury found that Carlos Jose Trejo Ruiz was responsible for distributing at least 280 grams of crack cocaine and at least 5 kilograms of powder cocaine. Read more on Wheaton Patch.

Germantown Remembers Christina Morris-Ward

GERMANTOWN — Students, community leaders and loved ones of the late Christina Morris-Ward held a vigil at Seneca Valley High School last week. Morris-Ward, 15, was struck and killed by a car as she walked to school Halloween morning. "I miss her a lot and I wish she could be with me. But there's a lot of things that we don't understand, and death is one of them. I wish I could have just hugged her before she left, but I couldn't," said her friend and classmate Ramatu Kembe. Read the full story at Germantown Patch.

Masked Man Robs Gas Station at Gunpoint

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE — A man wearing a ski mask and brandishing a handgun robbed a Montgomery Village gas station Monday night, according to police. Read more on Montgomery Village Patch.

Shoppers Pack H&M for Silver Spring Opening

SILVER SPRING — The line to be the first to enter H&M's newest DC-area store in downtown Silver Spring began at 6:30 a.m. on a cold Thursday morning. Jonice Childs, 24, commuted from Washington, DC, to be first in line for the store's grand opening, which began at noon and promised the first 100 shoppers special prizes and gift cards.
