Glorious Weather in Silver Spring and Burtonsville: Day Two

Don't get complacent. Hot weather is forecast for the weekend.

In case you haven't noticed, we're enjoying beautiful late June temperatures -- a time when it can traditionally be horrendously hot and humid.

Wouldn't it be nice if this were to continue through July 4? At this point, it's hard to see a week out, but the weekend is predicted to be hot, with a chance of rain Friday and slightly less sizzling temperatures as the holiday approaches.

One thing to be aware of with the low humidity--slightly more chance of spreading fire.

Here's what we're looking at, according to the National Weather Service:

This Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind around 16 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. West wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 94. West wind between 5 and 9 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 77.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73.
