My grandgirls and I love parades but this one had more long pauses than a Rick Perry debate response. Nice if it is on TV but not much fun as a spectator. Most of the families left early because it took so long for Santa to turn the corner. Also missed the big balloons...like the Penguin...I assume budget cuts cut them loose.

The crowd seem thin and we were not impressed. The parade for some reason feels extremely different from past years. Why the direction change starting in downtown and heading out of town into DC? just doesn't feel right. We also miss the large balloons etc. Funny thing is new lower light poles that supposedly are the reason for no more balloons have not worked for a few years now.

Is the county completely broke or something? on a side note the roads in DDSS are in horrendous condition. I can honestly say this will probably be our last year heading over to the parade.

Dan -

Thanks for commenting. This is actually the second year in a row that the parade has gone in the opposite direction from the first 12 years. I am not sure where you watched from, but the crowds seems quite thick around Ellsworth & Fenton and along parts of Georgia Avenue.

I was on Georgia Avenue and the crowds were healthy at the parade's start but dwindled significantly as the pace of the marchers was slowed by all the gaps.
