Spike TV Show Bar Rescue Comes to Silver Spring
Which bar in Silver Spring do you think it is?
If you are a restaurant/bar owner in Silver Spring, you already know inexpensive happy hour specials and tasty food and music are what the downtown crowd loves.
But one restaurant in Silver Spring is just not cutting it, according to customers on Yelp.
This is where Spike TV's Jon Taffer comes in. Taffer is filming part of the second season of his reality TV show "Bar Rescue" in Silver Spring.
This week, Taffer and his crew are in Los Angeles— but they will be heading to make over bars in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Cincinnati, Fort Lauderdale and in the West Palm Beach area.
As one of the country’s top restaurant and bar consultants, he brings about 30 years of industry experience to help failing businesses. The show not only helps with the exterior, but with restructuring other facets of running a bar in hopes of creating a more profitable menu, crowd management, music selection and managing disgruntled employees.
Can you guess which bar in Silver Spring will be getting the makeover? Tell us in the comments.

It's Babe's and it sure needs the help! I don't know if all the furniture and upstairs bar are leftovers from the lounge that was there before, but it is not even close to the realm of what a sports bar should look and feel like. I'm beyond excited that a makeover is in the works! The food and drinks are extremely mediocre as well. Simplify the website, streamline the menu, add a real selection of beer (having a whole bunch of crappy beers doesn't count as a good selection), redo the interior (especially upstairs), and train your staff better so they actually know how the Happy Hours and food specials work (I've been mischarged probably 50% of the time I've been there).

UGHHHHHH, Silver Spring Singular caught that the photo caption says Babe's ISN'T the bar being made over (can people see the photo captions without clicking to enlarge the photos? I sure can't). Now my hopes have been shattered. Babe's is easily the bar which need the most help in dTSS.

The Firehouse could use a little help. Way too corporate of an environment. We need a locals place not another chain restaraunt!

I'm guessing Quarry House. Just because it has good burgers and tons of great beers doesn't mean it's not still a hole -- literally -- in the ground that could use a little sprucing up.

Highly doubt it's the Quarry House. It makes a number of Washingtonian "Best Of" lists every year (including the best bar list) and has a good crowd almost every night. In the case of the QH, the scruff is part of the charm - you ever like it or you don't. My guess is Piratz Tavern, which is always deserted and likely on its last legs. Either that or Galaxy Billiards, which is best known for the collection of ghetto drug dealers at the entrances and regular visits by the cops to break up fights.

I have to agree, being a hole (in the ground) is part of the Quarry House's charm.

Apparently, according to Yelp, Fire Station 1 has a lower rating than Babes.

There is zero chance Quarry House is the candidate. Piratz is a real good guess. I forget that it's full name is "Piratz Tavern" since it has like 4 beers and a kiddy play area. About as un-tavern as it gets.

I am not familiar with the show. Do they ever deal with the issue of getting people "likkered up" and caring nothing about setting loose another drunk driver?
