Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of July 7 to July 12

Residential and commercial burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of July 7 to July 12 is as follows: 

  • 1200 East West Highway: A residential burglary occurred Saturday, July 9 between 12:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on this block. There was a forced entry and was property taken. 
  • 1500 East West Highway: A residential burglary occurred on Saturday, July 9 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on this block. There was an unknown entry and was property taken.
  • 500 Thayer Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 5 prior to 10:10 a.m. on this block. There was an  unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.
  • 8000 Eastern Drive: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 5 prior to 1:33 p.m. on this block. It was an unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.
  • 8000 Eastern Avenue:A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 5 between 10:10 a.m. and 3:52 p.m. on this block. There was a forced entry and property was taken. 
  • 8200 Nolte Avenue:A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 5 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on this block. There was a forced entry and property was taken. 
  • 800 Thayer Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, July 4 prior to 8:35 p.m. on this block. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown whether anything was taken.
  • Diane’s Boutique, 801 Wayne Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred between 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • Jim Dandy Cleaners, 961 Bonifant Street: A commercial burglary occurred on Wednesday, July 6 at 3:14 p.m on this block. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.
  • 1500 Forest Glen Road: An aggravated assault occurred on Thursday, July 7 at 2:55 a.m. The incident was domestic-related.
  • 9500 Vance Place: A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, July 6 between 7:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on this block. There was an unforced entry and property was taken.
  • 9500 Ocala Street: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 5 at 11:50 p.m. on this block. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.
  • 8472 Piney Branch Road: A robbery/assault occurred in the parking lot of the 7-11 on Tuesday, July 12 at 2:15 a.m. Suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.
  • Piney Branch Road and Greenwood Avenue: An attempted armed robbery/assault occurred on Monday, July 11 at 12:10 a.m. on this block. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property.
