POLL: Montgomery County Patch High School Football GOTW (Week 1)

Which Week 1 high school football game should be featured as the inaugural Patch Game of the Week in Montgomery County?

A new school year. A clean slate. Friday Night Lights.

As Montgomery County Public Schools prepare to open its doors to students on Monday, Aug. 27, athletes across the county have been preparing for their respective seasons, officially as early as Aug. 11, unofficially for longer.

In a new fall feature, Montgomery County's Patch sites will be selecting a high school football Game of the Week, but we need your help and it's really easy.

We'll post a poll every week listing the games across the county. All you need to do is vote for your selection as the Montgomery County Patch High School Football Game of the Week.

Polls will close for each week at 11:59 p.m. the Wednesday before kickoff. (For example, week 1 games begin on Friday, Aug. 31, so we'll close the poll at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29). Polls will normally open at 6 a.m. Sunday.

The Game of the Week winner will be announced Thursday mornings. In the event of a tie, we'll be relying your comments to make a decision. Whichever game or school has the most support in the comments will win the tiebreaker.

Thanks for your participation, and best of luck to all 2012 fall season athletes.

Vote for the Week 1 Montgomery County Patch High School Football Game of the Week and tell us in the comments why your school deserves to be selected!

Only public schools? What about Our Lady of Good Counsel v. Bishop Gorman at 9pm EDT on Friday Aug. 24 at Las Vegas, NV?

Who cares about Good Counsel? Most of their players come from out of the county.

Great game, Bill. Obviously we won't be sending someone to Las Vegas to cover it. Also, we don't have an Olney Patch, so you really won't find many Good Counsel games in our polls.

@Joe - A lot of people care about Good Counsel (have you noticed all of the "GC" decals on cars around here?). Yes, they aren't limited geographically and can legally do some small level of recruiting (no athletic scholarships) but I really don't care where their players come from, the school is in the county and many of the teens in your neighborhood likely go there. They care a lot about GC.
