Takoma Park and Silver Spring are teaming up to find the best place for breakfast in our Readers' Choice contest.

It's easy to participate: Simply vote for your favorite place in the poll below. Choose from the following places:

What makes your favorite the best of the bunch? Don't see your favorite on the list? Tell us about it in the comment box below the poll.

Click on the link of your favorite place to eat breakfast in the list above, then—on its Patch Places listing—rate it and review it. It's that easy!

The poll starts on Monday, March 26, at 5 a.m. and closes at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 30. The winning breakfast spot's name will be posted on Patch after noon on Friday.

What a fabulous idea to list good breakfast places! But I have 3 more. Right at the North exit of the Silver Spring Metro station is the Soho Cafe within Metro Plaza at 8405 Colesville (it faces Second Avenue). Parking is a bit difficult but within 2 blocks but perfect if you are on foot; this is cafeteria style, choose whatever and pay by weight!

Then, my local favorite is still the hot bar within Whole Foods Market. It too is choose what you want and pay by weight; the food is delicious. And, then there's the breakfast pizza!

My 3rd favorite is not in Silver Spring but Bethesda and I seriously wish one of the existing restaurants along the Fillmore section of Colesville Road would consider doing something similar. That would be Le Pain Quotidien. I can go in and sit in a bit of sunshine, not too crowded for breakfast, get a soft cooked egg in its shell with oatmeal and it's all organic. I cannot begin to describe how comforting this place is for breakfast. Someone has got to be able to do this in downtown Silver Spring.

You have clearly missed the best -- a long-time Silver Spring tradition -- the Tastee Diner on Cameron Street!

La Casita in Takoma Park is absolutely my favorite spot for breakfast! Its simple, quiet and has the feeling of being at home in your grandma's kitchen! The Latin American inspired breakfast is freshly prepared in front of you and the fruit smoothies are delicious! I've never had a bad breakfast there and I'm always welcomed with excellent service.

+1 for La Casita. It's in Silver Spring, though. Takoma Park wishes it were cool enough to have La Casita :P

For Heavens Sake! Where are the Woodside and Rock Creek Deli's? Someone has mentioned the Tastee (not as tasty as the Beth branch, but it's ours) ...
And if you go to the Wheaton zone of Silver Spring, don't forget NIck's Diner at Univ and Viers Mill.

Nick's Diner; 11199 Veirs Mill Rd has a great breakfast. Their home fries, and Greek omlet are the very best in the entire Tri State area. AMitchell

Kefa Cafe on Bonifant Street near Georgia Avenue must be included! It is the nicest, cosiest, place, owned by two lovely sisters. Here's a link related to the Kefa Cafe: http://space710atkefa.blogspot.com/2012/03/art-and-inspiration.html

Where's Capital City Cheesecake? They open at 7:30 a.m., 90 minutes before Mark's on weekdays. I have eaten Mark's breakfast special dozens of times but have also been to Capital City Cheesecake a lot.

I thought this site was Takoma Park Patch, not Takoma-Silver Spring Patch

Steve - For the Readers' Choice we're pulling the Takoma Park, Silver Spring, Wheaton area together since, for things like eating and shopping, people in the area don't just stay within Takoma Park.

And yes Capital City Cheesecake is a favorite of mine as well. And they're open Mondays now!
