Carol Willis’ Today’s Image Salon, a Burtonsville Crossing staple since 2002, will soon leave and move to Maple Lawn reports The Gazette.

Stores leaving Burtonsville Crossing is nothing new. Patch has been reporting on the exodus of businesses since August 2011, and the once vibrant shopping center will be down to just nine open businesses after the imminent departure of Today’s Image Salon.

A state delegate has written letters to Giant on behalf of his constituents and re-zoning and revitalization legislation passed the Montgomery County Planning Board, yet 19 spaces remain vacant.

One establishment, Pepino’s Italian Restaurant is locked into its Burtonsville Crossing for the long-term. “It’s going to take three or four years,” Pepino’s employee Beverly Follick told the Gazette “If you can hold on, you have a good shot. But how are you going to hold on?”
