Silver Spring Filmmaker Crafts Award-Winning Short 'On Top'

The 29-year-old director explores sex work in his "risque" film, the Washington City Paper reports.

Silver Spring resident Jason Baustin's latest short, On Top, is making waves in the film community—he won an award for directing at the World Music and Independent Film Festival in August.

Washington City Paper interviewed the 29-year-old director about the film this week.

An excerpt from the interview:

Typically whenever you see a film about "working girls," it always depicts them as down and out, abused, or addicted. I was interested in flipping that notion on its head and tell a story about a call girl who was content [...] Yes, I think the film is edgy and a bit risque, but it's not in bad taste.

Head to City Paper's website for more about the film.

Baustin will be answering questions on Twitter tonight at 7:30 p.m.
