Silver Spring Native Takes on Spartan Death Race

Participants crawl under barbed wire and swim for miles during this race.

Silver Spring native Scott O’Donnell takes on the Spartan Death Race Friday. O’Donnell is currently an enlisted army soldier who loves to challenge himself.

“I gear my life around challenges. I always look for the road less travelled,” he said.

The Death Race—previously known as the Vermont race—is a part of the Spartan Death Race series, which is similar to the Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, including the Hero Rush.

O’Donnell who is currently stationed in upstate New York is getting ready to take on this 48-hour race with over 15 obstacles which he won’t know until he begins.

Participates have been known to crawl under barbed wire, hike and swim for miles, including lugging 20-pound cinder blocks for hours.
