Silver Spring Oven Fire Leaves No Injuries
An apartment building in White Oak was evacuated after fire erupted in the kitchen of one unit.
Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire in the oven of a Silver Spring apartment Thursday afternoon, a fire and rescue spokesperson confirmed.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive in White Oak at 2:45 p.m. with reports that something was on fire inside an oven. As of just before 3 p.m., the fire had not spread outside of the appliance, which was inside of a ground-floor apartment, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, public information officer for the department.
The building was being evacuated as firefighters arrived, Garcia said, and a couple of the apartment building units were being held by the department to clear smoke out of the apartment.
No injuries were reported.
