Three friends - Julianna Moffett, Owen nelson and Ryan Moffett enjoy the snow.

Officials advised people to stay off the roads, agencies issued winter storm warnings and forecasters suggested that the area brace for a significant snowfall.

While most in the area did not see the multiple inches of accumulation predicted, there was enough bad weather for officals to close schools, government offices and disrupt some services.

Neither snow nor sleet nor driving winds can slow down local sledders, plow drivers and shovelers.

But one grandfather had a better idea.

Skip Mills, granddad of the children sledding in the pictures and video above, watched from a disclosed location:

"I am happy to bring them out, but told them [I] was staying in the car."
