No I will not boycott them. I think they are making a great point. This healthcare debacle is not free, It will cost us all in the long run. Nothing in life is free!

Never eaten at Applebees, but will not order from Papa Johns, even before the so called health care debacle they charge 2.00 for delivery and still tip the driver at least 4 dollars for his gas and time, because the drivers didnt get any of the 2.00 i know 5 drivers who has quit since the election they got better UNION JOBS

No I will not boycott them. They are making rational decisions based on the effect of this "law" on their businesses. This health care law is a debacle, taking us in the wrong direction. A much better health care law would be decoupling health insurance and health care from employers and moving it in a direction that keeps the focus on the transactions between care givers and their clients (all of us as individuals). Boycotting any business for its response to this debacle of a law will be a push in the wrong direction.

without health care, a person will die many, many years before their time. It's the poor who can not afford health care. Thousands of American soldiers have died so that we can be free. But now we do not want to pay just a little bit more so someone can be free from illness. I want to be free from illness, so I will do what i can do to help someone else to be well and free from illness. Believe it or not...how you treat others, will come back to you. Why boycott a company that doesn't provide health insurance so that I can support a company that doesn't provide health insurance? Most local places don't provide insurance either. Just because Papa John was honest about his potential expanded costs due to ACA is no reason to boycott. I appreciate the fact that he made the statement. It's about time a CEO is honest. Besides, most pizza shop employees are high school/college age kids that will be covered under their parents health care. If people boycott, they may lose their jobs. Unless you're going to ask every server/cook/hostess/delivery driver if they have coverage it doesn't make sense. Just because a company doesn't make a public stance doesn't mean they aren't doing the same thing. Think.

The fact that these chains make public statements about their decisions seems to me to be more about their dsipleasure with the current administration than with any concern for their workers. I am boycotting Macy's for their relationship with Donald Trump.

Yes, I will boycott both of these chains and Macy's as well. If John Schnatter(sp) hadn't made his political statement regarding why he is raising prices I would not have boycotted Papa Johns. Hopefully some day these business and Donald Trump, John Schnatter and others like them will realize that they can't continue to insult, demonize and say crazy and silly things about people and expect those same people to support them.

I think most people are missing an important part of all this. If you boycott, then you are only hurting the employees worse. What's worse? No health insurance or no job, because if you boycott, they will all lose their jobs. Just sayin. BTW, I live on an island with no applebys or papa johns in case you think I am in anyway connected with either company.

Having worked in the ER, I am sadden for anyone, who believes that poor people, who make minimal wages, shouldn't be entitled to health care buy their employees. It will cost about 4 cent per pizza. It is sad when patients, who don't have insurance for their children or themselves must use the ER as their primary doctor, or won't bring their child because they don't have healthcare and they bring them too late and they die. Sad. Germany does it well with Universal health care, it is about time a president thinks about the future of Americans!

These owners are the voice of the mean, petty, little, greedy, and envious America that lost the election. Were these people capable of running businesses successful on merit instead of on the backs of the employees, they wouldn't have to worry about the cost of health care coverage. These are the same hypocrites who tout the workforce as the most importent part of a successful business then turn aroung and treat the employees as if they are an annoyance, a burden to be shed, and an inconvenience to be ignored. I am a regular customer of both Papa Johns and Applebee's, I will boycott them, We need major Health care changes.

How to actually FIX health insurance (HI) availability / affordability:

1) Make HI policy a personal policy like car insurance is: YOU buy it, it follows YOU
when you change jobs,
2) Disallow INS refusal based on Pre existing conditions, pay higher premiums, BUT
3) Allow each person a 50% FED Income tax CREDIT for the insurance s/he buys
That is if it costs $1000 / mo. for the INS you need, you pay $500 / mo LESS fed
tax
4) Make (3) depend on income (adjusted for inflation so we don't get stuck with
ahother AMT alternative mininmum tax, debacle). Say the % Tax Credit is 100%
for a person making $25k/yr and diminishes to 0% by (pick a number) say, Income
= $2 mil / yr
5) Allow only one "tweak" of one parameter in (1) thru (4) every 4 years & must pass
by 60% of House, 60% of Senate and signed by President

I will keep eating at Applebees and won't tip anymore. And order pizza and wont tip delivery, and will use retailmenot on $25% 40% 50% off codes..SO in all, I am not out anything. Their employees are. Then they will quit, and they will have to change their ways...

Of course I won't boycott a firm for doing what is necessary to survive in this environment. I will not purchase Obamacare and if they try and force me I will quit working and let others pay for me. I will not be forced by a tyrannical government to work for them. BWL
