There needs to be more options for caring for folks like this in secure environments where they cannot be a threat to themselves or others. All too often, these nutcases are let out with no supervision. It's no wonder, when such people are free to wander the streets, that tragedies happen. I think we need a much more robust mental health care system in this country.

Perhaps we need a better mental health care system, not the 10-15 min. med visits, revolving door, here's your label, here's your handful of pills because that's what big pharma is pushing model that treats symptoms rather than people?

It is unkind and unnecessary to refer to someone whom you do not know as a "nutcase." I do agree with you that a more comprehensive and competenty-staffed mental health system is needed. Unfortunately, even if it were available, many people would not seek the services due to societal stereotyping.

Not all incidents are the same or mental related... it could be this woman came down with sudden tremors, seizures, pain all thru her body,fatigue to hinder her from spending time with her daughter and husband, stress from her job due to on sudden fainting and countless visits to E.R. and doctor's and not having no answer's on why her health is failing her...yrs of no answers and different medications to "maybe" this will help you! But give us a call or just come back! Repetitive! But most of all this woman may be just scared that she will die and lose her family still without answers to why...they are not all nutcases! This does not justify the incident but we need to stop from being so quick to judge.....

This happened behind our home. The police officer at the end of the street said she was terminally ill and depressed. It's unfair to label het 'a nutcase'. Hopefully she is getting the help she needs...
