'Taste the World' in Fenton Village
South Silver Spring business owners showcase the culinary skills of restaurants.
It’s been suggested that of the many ways to experience Silver Spring, possibly the best is by taste. Food lovers from all over will have the opportunity to put that statement to the test during the first Taste the World in Fenton Village event, scheduled for Sunday, May 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fenton Village is located in south Silver Spring, and is bordered by Wayne, Georgia, and Burlington Avenues including Fenton Street.
Hosted by the Silver Spring Citizen’s Advisory Board and Downtown Silver Spring, this event will showcase about 20 restaurants that will offer appetizers or small tasting plates for $5 or less. Among them are Jackie’s, Addis Ababa Ethiopian, and Ghar-E-Kabob. The event will also feature musical entertainment, street vendors and an outdoor market featuring local businesses.
“This is a terrific way to bring Fenton Village to light and give it more exposure, and to bring people to Fenton Village to experience the culture and diversity,” said Jessica Fusillo, Chair of the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board’s Commercial Economic Development Committee, who served as one of the organizers.
Taste the World passports can be picked up begining at 1:00 p.m., at the parking lot on Fenton Street at Silver Spring and Thayer avenues. They will be stamped at each restaurant visited and can be turned in at the end of the day for a special drawing.
Free parking will be available at the Wayne-Ellsworth and Fenton Street Village parking garages. The Silver Spring Metro Station is located just a couple of blocks north of the event.
