Jimmy's Hotdog Man in Downtown Silver Spring

Outside the L. Leonard Ruben District Court of Maryland in downtown Silver Spring, a new eating venue has opened up to all: Jimmy's Hotdog Man.

The grill stand, located near 8552 Second Avenue, opened up Tuesday. Jimmy not only serves the court staff and visitors, but to all who want a delicious all-beef or uncured (nitrate/nitrite free) turkey dogs and Italian sausages with onions and peppers.

Of course the sides are there you'd expect at any vendor cart: chips and beverages as well as bananas, roasted peanuts and root beer. Jimmy has the New York red onion sauce! chili cheese too. Next week he expects to pump out sauerkraut for the grilled dogs and sausages. He plans a new Maryland special dog but won't reveal the secret yet.

Jimmy served in the US Marine Corps and is a retired (Teamsters) truck driver.

The Marines brought him to this area from New Jersey in 1973 and he's stayed.

A vendor cart is new to this part of Silver Spring and a welcome addition. The cart is out there Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
