Celebrate! 5th Annual Silver Spring Blues Festival & Blues Week - June 10-15 - 10am to 9pm

The 5th Annual Silver Spring Blues Festival is Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 10am to 9pm. Free!

Silver Spring, MD. Silver Spring Town Center, Inc.’s 5th Annual Silver Spring Blues Festival at Downtown Silver Spring will take place from Monday June 10, 2013 to Saturday, June 15, 2013 on two stages.  All free!

On Saturday, June 15 from 10 am to 9 pm, there will be outstanding acoustic blues performances on the “Market Stage” at the Fenton Street Market, featuring 

10:00am - Archie Edwards Blues Ensemble
11:00am - Gina De Luca
12:00pm - MSG - Acoustic Blues Trio
1:00pm - Stacy Brooks-Acoustic
2:00pm - Blue Panamuse

From 3 pm to 9 pm, on the “Fountain Stage” (Ellsworth Drive) the Silver Spring Blues Festival will highlight top electric blues stars, including:

4:00pm - Bushmaster featuring Gary Brown
5:00pm - The Skyla Burrell Band
6:00pm - The Bad Influence Band
7:00pm - The Ursula Ricks Project, and the headliner
8:00pm - Guitar Blues Legend, The Bobby Parker Blues Band

The festival emcee is WPFW-FM radio personality Ida Campbell, returning for her fifth consecutive Silver Spring Blues Festival.  Guest emcees include Tony Colter from Sirius XM radio.

The Festival will be videotaped by Montgomery Community Media and rebroadcast on cable throughout the year.

Before the June 15th performances, Silver Spring Blues Week kicked off Monday, June 10 with a concert featuring the great Warner Williams with Joyce Ettingoff, and the dynamic blues duo Swampcandy at the Silver Spring Civic Building.

During Silver Spring Blues Week, blues fans will be treated to an abundance of free blues music performances in Silver Spring.

  • On Tuesday, June 11, you can hear Gina DeSimone & the Moaners live on Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Free!
  • On Wednesday, June 12, you can hear the joyful blues of “Roaddog,” live on Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Free!
  • On Thursday, June 13, you can check out the soulful blues of David Oziel, David Jackson & Howard Moss, live on Silver Spring’s Veterans Plaza, from 7 pm to 9 pm.  Free!
  • On Thursday, June 13, you can dance to Fast Eddie & the Slowpokes performing at McGinty’s Public House on Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring, from 8 pm to 11 pm. Free
  • On Friday, June 14, you can join WPFW radio personality Ida Campbell—and her band—at a Silver Spring Blues Festival happy hour from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Society Lounge on Georgia Avenue.  Society Lounge is located at 8229 Georgia Ave Silver Spring, MD 20910.
