HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION PAY OFF: Calverton Baton and Poms Wins Four National Championships

Calverton Baton and Poms Team won four national titles at the 2013 United States Twirling Association National Festival of the Future Championships in Daytona Beach Florida.  Calverton Baton and Poms Team is a baton twirling and poms team located in the Calverton section of Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties.

The group set a goal of winning at least one national championship this year after coming in fourth place in the 2012 championships.   The team faithfully practiced at least six hours a week for the past year starting August 2012 in pursuit of their goal.  The team far surpassed their goal this year.  The team won national championship titles for Festival of the Future Beginner Junior Small Dance Twirl and Juvenile Beginner Trio.  The team also won national championships titles for Festival of the Future Beginner and Intermediate Senior Trio.  Along the road to Nationals, the team won Maryland State Festival of The Future Championships and the Northeastern Regional Festival of the Future Championships for beginner and intermediate junior dance twirl, juvenile trio, and senior trio.
