Host an exchange student and change the world!

Youth For Understanding is welcoming 55 international exchange students in Mid Atlantic area this summer. Each of these wonderful young boys and girls is looking for a warm and welcoming family like yours to host them for this upcoming school year. Will it be yours?

Our students come fully ensured and have their own pocket money! “Hosting is a rewarding experience like no other. There is much to be learned from other cultures, and by sharing our own we allow understating, communication and peace to grow.”

Welcome an exchange student into your home; start your host family application today: https://yfuusa.org/ ! We have many students to choose from. Read more on each student on our blog: http://yfusedistrict.wordpress.com/author/youthforunderstanding/

Aino

16 years old female from Finland

Responsible, talkative, and social are just a few of the words that can be used to describe Aino from Finland. Aino loves being active, and she especially enjoys horseback riding, playing tennis, and going to the gym a few times a week. She also does both cross country and downhill skiing in the winter. During the summer, she spends time with her family (which includes a dog) at a cottage, and they boat, fish, and pick local berries and mushrooms. Aino and her family also like to travel quite a bit, and a holiday in the US inspired her to spend her exchange year here. Besides sports, Aino likes to bake cakes, spend time with her friends, or read a good mystery novel. Aino is interested in learning about new cultures and likes to study foreign languages. So far she has studied English and Swedish, and is just now learning Spanish - simply because "it is a beautiful language"! Aino hopes that her exchange year will get her one step closer to some kind of international career, and she can't wait to share her culture with her host family.
