Alex's Lemonade Stand's Lemonade Days – June 10-12, 2011

Will your child participate and be the next Whiz Kid?

At some point, we’ve all run a lemonade stand in our driveway. It was a great way to make a few quarters to spend on ice cream, a new baseball mitt or jump rope. But what kind of lemonade stand raises $40 million dollars? Alex’s Lemonade Stand!

A young cancer patient named Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) decided to open a lemonade stand to raise money to help all kids with cancer. She recruited volunteers from all over the map to help reach her goal of $1 million, which was achieved just prior to Alex’s death in 2004.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) came out of that first driveway stand and has raised $40 million to date. June 10-12, 2011 is the foundation’s national fundraising weekend, called “Lemonade Days”, and Patch would love to spotlight any Silver Spring kids who participate in this charity event.
