No giant inflatable shark attached to the Discovery Communications building in downtown Silver Spring, and yet Shark Week is upon us.
Silver Spring businesses are offering special deals during the shark-centric TV event, which began Sunday on Discovery Channel.
A bite-size viewing guide:
- For the big fans— Great whites. Devouring seals.
- On the calmer side— If you've been to Baltimore's National Aquarium, then this shark cam may look familiar. Extra points if you spot the 500-pound sea turtle named Calypso swimming with the sharks.
The 25th anniversary of Shark Week was 2012, which is when we last saw Chompie, the inflatable shark. Maybe he'll return in years to come? Though in his absence, apparently there is a Chompie Jr. running around town. Tweet us photos if you see him!
