Getting Around Town: May 23, 2011

Each Monday, we bring you the latest information on construction delays, road closures and other issues affecting traffic in Silver Spring.

Regular Road Closings:

Ellsworth Drive from Fenton Street to Georgia Avenue is closed to vehicular traffic each weekend from Friday 5:00 p.m. to Sunday 11:00 p.m.

Short-term Work Zones:

• Eastbound University Boulevard (Rte. 193) at Dennis Avenue - left turn lane may be blocked.

• Westbound University Boulevard (Rte. 193) at Dennis Avenue - left turn lane may be blocked.

Long-term Work Zones:

• I-495 North/South at MD 193 -- Lane 4 and right shoulder closed for bridge painting evenings from 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. through the end of the year.

• I-495 Inner Loop from Exit 28 to Exit 29, right shoulder closed 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily for surveying work.

• Forest Glen Community Street, sidewalk and curb renewal (now 29% complete) – Watch for one-way traffic on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. with flaggers directing traffic. View the attached map and PDF for more information.

• Work on resurfacing University Boulevard between Arcola Avenue and Colesville Road continues -- Watch for single lane closures on University, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and overnight Sunday through Thursday 9:00p.m. - 5:00 a.m.; watch for double lanes closures overnight Sunday through Thursday 11:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
