The interactive fountain in downtown Silver Spring is closed, but as of today, Oct. 19, the ice rink is open, the Gazette reports.
Since it debuted in late 2010, the rink has remained open daily through March. Last year, 47,000 people skated on the ice, the newspaper reported.
For those that aren't comfortable on the ice yet, look for five-week sessions starting late October for youth, adults, ice hockey, parent-child pairs and home school students, said the Gazette.
According to the rink's website, admission is $8 for adults, $7 for kids 12 and under and for adults 55 and over. Ice skates are rented at $3 a pair.
The rink's hours are:Sunday 10am - 10pm Monday Noon - 10pm Tuesday Noon - 10pm Wednesday Noon - 10pm Thursday Noon - 10pm Friday Noon - 11pm Saturday 10am - 11pm
When Montgomery County Public Schools are closed, hours are extended to 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
“We’re excited for another great season, and we really enjoy all of the patrons, the family and friends that come out to make for a fun work environment,” Lance Curran, managing partner with Tristate Ice Management LLC, the company that assembles the rink, told the Gazette.
