There's a Meeting for That: Silver Spring Real Estate, Tourism, Creating 'Complete' Community

Several regular meetings of Silver Spring boards and committees will meet this week and the public is invited.

Whether you're curious about the state of real estate development in Silver Spring or you're interested in how transit development affects a community, there are meetings addressing those issues this week.

1. Tourism in Montgomery County: The county's Conference and Visitors Bureau will present to the Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment Advisory Committee at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building. 

2. What's going on with downtown Silver Spring real estate? Robert Kronenberg, chief planner with Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will update Silver Spring residents on all things real estate development: proposed, under construction and recently completed projects.

The meeting will take place Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Civic Building between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. 

3. Transit-oriented development and "complete community:" The Silver Spring Transportation Management District Advisory Committee will meet for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 8 a.m. at Discovery Communications.

On the agenda: Sarah Kline, policy director for Reconnecting America, a national nonprofit that advises civic and community leaders on how to create better communities, with a focus on transit-oriented development and defining what makes a "complete community."
