Want to See a Silver Spring Man Jump Down a Building?

A fundraiser for food allergies has a Silver Spring man promising to take a giant leap.

A Silver Spring man is putting his fear on the line – literally – and promising to rappel down the side of the Westin Arlington hotel if he raises enough money in the name of food allergies.

Silver Spring Patch blogger Michael Spigler, who recently moved to Silver Spring from Boston, is asking for help in meeting his fundraising goal of $2,000, money that would be used to raise awareness about food allergies.

The fundraiser is being held by Spigler’s employer, the McLean VA-based Food Allergy Research and Education.

The 2013 “Over the Edge Event” will be held Nov. 16 at the Westin Arlington Gateway Virginia Building, 801 N. Glebe Road in Arlington, VA, according to the event website.

Spigler said he was inspired to participate in the “extreme event” as people are dying from food allergies.

“It isn't just a matter of not eating what makes you sick,” he wrote. “Even a crumb in something unexpected can kill those with life-threatening food allergies.”
