Whiz Kid: Daniela Velasquez

This Whiz Kid is getting it done in Silver Spring, South Africa and France!

• Daniela Velasquez, 14-year-old Freshman
• Montgomery Blair High School
• Velasquez is a 3.1 GPA student, is on Blair’s Honor Roll and in Chorus, joined the Gapbuster Learning Center and participates in health education in South Africa.
• Daniela Velasquez is quite an impressive youth. She is a very social young woman, and enjoys spending her limited free time with family and friends. Her love of singing led her to join Blair’s Chorus as a Soprano, and she is an excellent student - firmly entrenched on Honor Rolls (she hasn’t missed since 6th grade!). Velasquez loves to volunteer and help out with her community. Her work with the Gapbuster Program, led her to travel to South Africa where she helped to educate about HIV/AIDS – as a 12 year-old! The Gapbuster program also helps to feed the homeless – when the weather is nice, she grills hamburgers and hot dogs for them. Now age 14, Velasquez is currently in training, and hopes to return to South Africa once again.
