Whiz Kid: Jake Sylvester

This Whiz Kid is a five-sport athlete and exudes excellent character.

  • Jake Sylvester
  • A 7th Grader at St. Andrew Apostle, Sylvester is on the Safety Patrol and recently won the “Christian Character Award” for exhibiting excellence through Christian character.
  • No matter the season, he is in motion - playing CYO baseball and basketball, football for the Silver Spring Saints, swimming for the Kemp Mill Swim Club and skiing during the winter.
  • Sylvester is also active in the community – participating in fundraising events for the homeless and making sandwiches for McKenna’s Wagon, Martha’s Table’s mobile soup kitchen.
  • Jake enjoys music and the arts, having played a pirate in his school’s production of Peter Pan, winning recognition in My Catholic Standard for his artwork and can often be heard crunching chords of AC/DC songs on his electric guitar.
