Here's something to look forward to this September: Branford Marsalis is headlining the 10th annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival on Sept. 7.
Marsalis is a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and a Tony Award nominee; he also belongs to a family described by The New York Times as “jazz’s most storied living dynasty."
In fact, his brother, jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, headlined the Silver Spring festival in 2005.
This year's festival will take place on a Saturday, from 4:30 to 10 p.m., in Downtown Silver Spring on Veterans Plaza at Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive.
The festival is presented by Montgomery County Government, the Celebrate Downtown Silver Spring Foundation, Montgomery County Recreation and the Silver Spring Urban District.
