Free 17th Annual Takoma Park JazzFest

The free 17th Annual Takoma Park JazzFest is Sunday June 10 on the streets of Old Town Takoma Park just two blocks from Takoma Metro Station, featuring 12 acts on two stages, arts, crafts and food. 

 The 2012 Takoma Park JazzFest is our most exciting and historic festival so far!  On June 10, from 11 am to 6 pm we'll explore the roots of jazz; from African melodies and instruments to ragtime piano; from delta blues to early washboard/skiffle bands, and more. Our headliners, Sophisticated Ladies of Jazz, feature international trumpet/vocal phenom Bria Skonberg, bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott (longtime bassist with Les Paul), Chuck Redd and others. Representing modern jazz styles is our other headliner, Jeff Antoniuk and Jazz Update.  Jeff is a well-respected jazz educator.  Before their performance Jeff, Chuck, and Bria will each present a free intimate instrumental workshop on sax, percussion and trumpet, respectively.
