Medical Museum Science Café: “Yellow Fever: The Scourge Revealed"

Join CAPT. Stanton E. Cope, director of the Armed Forces Pest Management Board, for a brief history of Yellow Fever and its impact on the U.S. and abroad. Learn about the experiments conducted in Cuba by the Walter Reed Commission using human volunteers, including the aftermath of the experiments and the fate of the Commission members and some of its volunteers.

Additionally, papers, books and other items, some of which are from the 18th century, will be on display. These items, including a reprint signed and corrected by Major Walter Reed, are from CAPT Cope’s award-winning Yellow Fever collection. Hosted by the National Museum of Health and Medicine. Open to the public, no RSVP required.
