This one night free community film festival celebrates the people and places of Silver Spring. Produced by the local arts nonprofit Docs In Progress and co-sponsored by the Charles Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity, the evening will feature 11 short documentaries produced by students of all ages who have learned filmmaking in Docs In Progress classes.
Among the featured film subjects are Alliance Comics, City Printing, Contradiction Dance Company, CREATE Arts Center, Dale Music, Gandhi Brigade, Joe's Record Paradise, Moorenko's Ice Cream, Pulmonary Hypertension Association, Silver Spring Books, and Tayari Casel Martial Arts Academy.
The program begins at 6:30 pm with a community reception sponsored by Honest Tea. This will be followed at 7:00 pm by a screening of the films and discussion with some of the filmmakers and locals profiled in the films. There is no charge to attend, but an RSVP is appreciated.
