The Southern Montgomery County Orchestra (SoMoCoO) strives to bring high-quality musicianship and performance to the residents of southern Montgomery County at an affordable cost. But SoMoCoO is not just another outstanding, local, amateur orchestra from the greater Washington, DC area. SoMoCoO wants to engage and entice its community in the joy, fun, and ‘cool factor’ that orchestral music can provide to people of all ages and walks of life. Our mission as local musicians and performers is to make the best possible music while having the most possible fun in order to delight our audiences in the joy that orchestral music can bring to their lives. To quote our Artistic Director, Leah Kocsis, “It’s time for orchestra music to be hip and down to earth!” So if you always thought symphonic music was dry, boring and stuffy, think again.
