1. HALLOWEEN ON ELLSWORTH

Where/When: The celebration will take place on intersection of Ellsworth and Fenton streets. Start time is 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27. The celebration ends around 6 p.m.

Why go: Come to enjoy spooky fun in downtown Silver Spring! There will be  contests for various ages, facepainting, and much more.

2. PUMPKIN CARVING IN LONG BRANCH

Where/When: The festivities will take place at Long Branch Community Center located on 8700 Piney Branch Rd. It starts Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m.

Why go: Bring the children out to enjoy a Halloween party. It will include a haunted house, scary movie and snacks.

3. DIWALI FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Where/When: The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Meditation Museum located at 8236 Georgia Ave. between 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go:  Come to learn more about the Diwali celebration and check out the services that the museum offers. 

Pricing: Free, but you must RSVP.

4. DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION

Where/When: Join the Halloween festivities in Takoma Park at 7500 Maple Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 29, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Why go: Celebrate the life of someone you love by creating your own personal 'shrine' to acknowledge them, a special pet, or memory.

Pricing: Free

5. TRICK-OR-TREAT WITH A PURPOSE

Where/When: Join the Halloween party in located on One Veterans Plaza. The event takes place on Monday, Oct. 31. It starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.

Why go: Come out to enjoy ice skating, treats, music and donate canned goods to help feed the community.
