Why go: The program is slated to open the week-long event that will also air nationally on Discovery Channel.

6. FARMER'S MARKET IN ELLSWORTH DRIVE
Where/When: The market is located between Georgia Avenue and Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go: This week Quaker Valley Farm and Orchards will bring Sun Jewel Asian melons and baby yellow watermelons, and new varieties of plums at Spring Valley. You can check out fresh veggies from the grill such as organic corn, bell peppers, and apricots from Three Springs Fruit Farm.
