Montgomery County Veterans Day Celebration Ends on a High Note
Bands, dancers and proclamations provide a moving "Tribute to America's Veterans."
More than 300 people filled the main auditorium of the Silver Spring Civic Building and Veterans' Plaza to enjoy an evening of entertainment emceed by WPFW's Ida Campbell. Energetic dance troupes from the and Maryland Youth Ballet as well as a musical performance from Silver Spring native Jonny Grave dazzled the crowd.
In between performances, Congressman Chris Van Hollen was on hand to present a proclamation to Indira Y. Kozak of the U.S. Navy for her service.
When asked about the dedication of the building and celebration, Hollen responded, "It's a constant reminder to people in the community about the debt we owe to our veterans and the men and women who serve our country, and this evening's event is a wonderful way to celebrate them."

The evening closed with a rousing jazz fusion set from the C. Henry Woods Troupe featuring the Jazz Bombers.
