Storm Cancels Cherry Blossom Block Party in Downtown

Rain and heavy winds shutdown the cherry blossom block party on Ellsworth Drive. Many of the vendors agreed that the weather wasn't the best but many people were out enjoying themselves. 

The part owner of Turquoise Cigdem Ertekin, a local jewelry company, said the strong winds destroyed some the earrings when the booth was lifted.

"It [wind] just came so fast and the table was lifted," said Ertekin.

The activities during the event featured by arts and craft works, polish sausage vendor and karaoke singers. The activities were cut short when the first rain storm started and knocked down some booths said event coordinator Lillian Buie.

They thought they could weather out the second storm but the winds were too heavy so they decided to shut the block party down around 2:30 p.m., added Buie.
