The Fillmore Launches Open Mic Series

The Fillmore Silver Spring is launching a new Fillmore Cares Open Mic Series in support of a different Silver Spring nonprofit each month.

The first event on Monday, April 29, from 6-9 p.m. will benefit A Wider Circle, which aims to help children and adults lift themselves out of poverty. Tickets are $5 at the door and a portion of all nightly proceeds will directly benefit the cause.

Historical B&O Station: How the Railroad Changed Montgomery County

If you're down at the historical B&O station on Saturday morning, stick around for some historical insights.

Susan Soderberg, a public historian, will give a PowerPoint and lecture called “From Corn to Commuters: How the Coming of the Railroad Changed the Way of Life and the Future of Montgomery County." Free.
