City Sports Set to Officially Open in Silver Spring

When City Sports-located on 8510 Fenton Street-opens their doors in downtown Silver Spring, customers will notice a variety of changes from neighboring stores in the metro area. The store opens Saturday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.

Key changes include:

• Women's section with training, yoga apparel and a bra wall (women can find a bra related to athletic activity).
• Pant wall with black pants to show the variety of fits. 
• iMac kiosks which can help women find their sports bra size by inputting their bra size and planned activity. The system can then recommend bras.
• Athletic electronics section including brands such as Polar and Nike that are heavy on GPS elements focused on helping customers get ready for a variety of athletic training. This area also features iPads so that customers can check reviews online for in-store products.
• Additional shoe wall that is free standing.

After Pier 1 imports closed in July, City Sports officials started working on an acquisition for the space in because downtown Silver Spring is a prime location, City Sports Marketing Manager Kirsten Lannon said.

"It's just a great urban location. We already have three retail stores in the D.C. area," Lannon added.

The sporting goods company is scheduled to host a grand opening event Saturday, Dec. 3 with raffles, giveaways and more.
