D.C. Area Food Trucks Take On New Territory: Downtown Silver Spring

Food cart lovers of Silver Spring now have a plethora of options to choose from. Here are a few options to excite your palate:

• Red Hook Lobster Pound brought the "Lobby 1" to Silver Spring offering gourmet options such as maine lobster rolls, shrimp rolls, and whoopie pies. To quench the thirst they served up homemade lemonade and Maine root soda. Their prices range from $2 to $18. Follow Red Hook Lobster DC's Twitter page to find out when they will be in the area.

• Sub-Urban Bros is Montgomery County based and uses twitter to reach out to other food trucks in an effort to bring more food choices to Silver Spring lunchers. This deli on wheels serves subs for $5 to $6 and customers choose their bread, meat, cheese, and toppings. Soup of the Day or chili is offered as a side. • TOPS American Food Company Truck (from Gaithersburg), features hot dogs and sausages with original titles. “The So Good” is an apple maple sausage smothered in cheese and syrup and topped with scrambled eggs. More traditional choices like a Nathan’s Famous Hotdog are available too. Customers can add chili bowls, chili cheese fries, or French fries to their all American lunch. Follow TOPS on twitter.

• Dessert is not forgotten and Silver Spring is home to DC Love Bites. Cupcakes come in a variety of flavors ranging from Washington Sweet Potato to Strawberry Chiffon to Black Forest. Curbside Cupcake weren't licensed to serve in Montgomery County according to a tweet in early June but, “Pinky 1” and “Pinky 2” are now officially licensed in the county according to one of the co-owners.
