Get Out: Weekend Activities in Downtown/Nearby for St. Patrick's Day

1. ST. PATRICK'S DAY FESTIVAL

Where/When: Ellsworth Drive in downtown Silver Spring on Saturday, March, 17 between 2 and 5 p.m.

Why go: The festival will include traditional music and Irish Folkloric dance from The Culkin School of Irish Dance. There will also be face painting for kids!

Where/When: Join the celebration at the greenest bar in downtown located at 911 Ellsworth Drive from 12 p.m. until close.

Why go: This year the celebrations will have you dancing with The Culkin School of Irish Dance, grooving with Pete Moss and the Irish Bogs, a leprechaun contest (tall people are included) and much more!

Pricing: Admission is free before 6 p.m. Cover charge is $10

3. ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE IN GAITHERSBURG

Where/When: Join in the festivities on the Washingtonian Waterfront located near 209 Boardwalk Place. The parade takes place on Saturday, March 17 and starts at 10 a.m.

Why go: Enjoy good times with the family. After the parade, you can enjoy Celtic music on Lakefront Plaza, face painting and more! 

Pricing: Free.

4. FENWICK BEER AND WINE TASTING 

Where/When: The beer and wine store is located on 1327 Fenwick Lane and the tasting is on Friday, March 16 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

Why go: Enjoy the tasting of local hard cider from Spencerville, MD. They will also have a St. Patrick's Day special, all Irish beers 20 percent off all day on Saturday, March 17.

Pricing: Free for the tasting.

Where/When: Firestation 1 Restaurant & Brewing Co. located at
8131 Georgia Ave. on Saturday, March, 17. Festivities start at noon.

Why Go: Spend an afternoon on the patio, watch March Madness, have a variety of drinks to choose from in their beer garden. Later on in the evening, experience the pipe and drum band perform at 5 p.m. and then the Felix Soho band takes over at 9 p.m. till close.
