H&M Gaining Permits for Construction Project in Silver Spring

The store is set to open in fall 2012.

Plans for the H&M construction project are moving steadily along, according to Laurie Yankowski, regional marketing director for The Peterson Companies.

After the company’s move was announced in late April, The Peterson Companies, the management company for downtown, worked to ensure the 18,0000-square-foot space was in good condition to turn over to the Swedish company in early May.

Currently, H&M is working to obtain permits for the building, Yankowsi said.

“A 60-day cycle for permitting is common for a buildout of this scale. They’re planning a complete remodel of the façade, interior as well as all mechanical systems,” she added.

The popular retail fashion chain is taking the majority of the at the corner of Fenton Street and Ellsworth Drive.
