Restaurant Roundup: Pizza Parlors

One of the great things about living in an urban area like Montgomery County is that there is a wide variety of dining options. There's not just one "house of pizza" in town—depending on whether you like your pizza deep-dish, thin-crust, New Haven-style or super-sized, Montgomery County has a pizza pie for you.

In Bethesda, (at 4926 Cordell Ave.) serves rustic, wood fire-baked pies, as well as classic pizzas like the Margherita. Unique toppings for building speciality pizzas include Gruyere and Gorgonzola cheeses, meatballs and pancetta.

The restaurant has "[o]utstanding food and great staff," wrote Patch user  on . Termini gave the restaurant Patch's highest rating of five stars.

A Rockville staple for almost 20 years, (12274 Rockville Pike) is another local favorite for pizza. Its pizza—voted by Bethesda Magazine as the "Best Traditional Pizza in 2009"—is handmade with fresh (not frozen) ingredients.

Patch user  gave Mamma Lucia a five-star rating on , adding that Mamma Lucia has the "Best Pizza in Rockville."

(824 Muddy Branch Rd., Gaithersburg) is a great family-friendly option in the Muddy Branch Shopping Center. Standard and speciality pizzas (like chicken ranch and spinach Alfredo) are all on the menu.

Patch user  gave the restaurant four out of five stars on its , and noted the restaurant's friendly atmosphere and great value.

In the Wheaton-Silver Spring area,  (2638 University Blvd. West) has been operating since 1997. The hallmark of this local chain is its thick-crust, rectangular pizza. Back in the 1950s, when the chain was founded, circular pizzas were uncommon. Most pizza pies were rectangular, and Ledo has continued the tradition to this day.

For Patch user , this location of Ledo is "[s]eriously one of my favorite places to grab pizza. A friend from Virgina came to visit with two small kids—what a perfect place! Another weekly stop for my better half and myself."

And, in Takoma Park, try the take-out pizza from  (6901 Laurel Ave.), or dine-in at  (8006 Flower Ave.), which earned a four-star rating from a Patch user.
