Spike TV's 'Bar Rescue' to Air Renovation of Piratz Tavern

The episode is set to debut on Spike TV July 22.

Spike TV’s Bar Rescue starts its second season in July and Silver Spring’s Piratz Tavern is in the first episode, but the transformation is not at all what bar owners here expected.

During the promotional video, the host John Taffer tells Piratz employees that, “fixing bars is easy, fixing people is tough.” His brash approach to management ruffles feathers along the way.

Archer—an employee at Piratz Tavern—got into a disagreement with Taffer and they throw verbal daggers.

Taffer tells Archer that he doesn’t appreciate his smirk and asks if the restaurant owner’s nearly $1 million debt was funny.

Archer replies that he doesn’t appreciate a grow man yelling at the top of his lungs at adults like they are children.

In February, Taffer came to Silver Spring and attempted to change Piratz Tavern into Corporate Bar and Grill.

To create Corporate Bar and Grill Taffer he realigned furniture and installed new bar fixtures, devised menu layouts, among other renovations.

But the theme didn’t stick and the restaurant owner changed it back. In the process, they even wrote and posted a YouTube video of it.

In an interview with Patch, the owner Tracy Rebelo said she was outraged by how the show renovated their bar. It went from a pirate décor to framed office posters and notepads. She said the she hoped the show would bring her better business, but it did the opposite.

Over the course of the new season, Taffer also visited failing establishments in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
