Submit Your Artists Nominations for the County's Highest Award

What artist has enriched your life in Silver Spring with countless hours in volunteer work, a click of the camera, or the stroke of a brush?

Nominate that artist (or artists) for the county's highest award, The Executive's Awards.

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) is asking for nominations for the 11th annual awards ceremony to single out deserving individuals and groups.

The Executive's Awards helps to pay "tribute to individuals and organizations that have made a difference in Montgomery County through the arts and humanities," wrote Leggett in a county call out letter.

To nominate an artist you will need to visit the form site and include the information by deadline on Friday, July 13. There are six categories:

Emerging Leader

This award goes to a young leader in an arts or humanities organization who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovative thinking and a commitment to advancing our County's arts and humanities. Last year's recipient was Kenneth A. Oldham, Jr. (National Philharmonic).

Education

This award goes to an individual educator or educational organization that has made a major contribution to the education of youth and adult populations through the arts and/or humanities. Last year's recipient was John Taylor (The Kinderman).

Community

This award goes to an arts or humanities organization, or an individual in a leadership position with an arts or humanities organization, that has made a major contribution to building a stronger community and improving the quality in Montgomery County through the organization's programs and services. Last year's recipient was Michael Friend (Soul in Motion).

Volunteer

This award goes to an individual who has made a major contribution to the arts and humanities in Montgomery County as a volunteer. Last year's recipient was Richard Spero (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Strathmore).

Outstanding Artist or Scholar 

This award goes to an individual working in an arts or humanities discipline as a practicing artist or scholar (either paid or unpaid) whose work has made a major contribution to the cultural life of Montgomery County. Examples include: visual artist, performer, musician, historian, playwright or poet. Last year's recipient was Christylez Bacon.

Business or Individual Patron

This award goes to a business, company, corporation, company foundation or an individual that has set a exemplary standard of support for the arts and humanities in Montgomery County. Nominees may be long-time supporters or a new supporter that has made a significant contribution. Support may include cash or in-kind donations. Last year's recipients were Drs. Jeffrey and Carolyn Leonard.
