Sweetgreen Opens in Silver Spring Monday

First day is "pay what you want."

Salad chain Sweetgreen is opening a new location in Silver Spring at 8517 Georgia Avenue.

Its first day, July 15, is "pay what you want," starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. Donations will benefit FRESH FARM markets, according to a Sweetgreen spokesperson.

On the menu? Fresh greens like organic baby spinach, combined with locally sourced ingredients like peaches and goat cheese.

Sweetgreen started in Georgetown in 2007, adding locations in Dupont Circle, Bethesda and elsewhere in the DC region. Silver Spring is part of a wider expansion, with Sweetgreen opening stores in New York and Boston, The New York Times reported.

Normal business hours at the Silver Spring Sweetgreen are 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Correction: Donations will benefit FRESH FARM markets, not Sweetgreen in Schools in collaboration with DC Farm to School, as was originally reported.
